Founder Story Without Fairy Tales
No hacks. A system built from 25 years of hardgainer reality – from under 50 kg to the brand that takes hardgainers seriously.
"Genetics was my excuse. Discipline became my answer."
I'm Christian, founder of Hardgainer Performance Nutrition®. I know the game: you train, you eat, you try hard, and still not enough happens. I was there – under 50 kg, no system, no clarity.
This page is the short version: where the system comes from, why HGPN was founded, and what your next step is today. The full transformation with photos, timeline and protocol lives in the About Me Deep Dive.

Why Hardgainer Performance Nutrition® was founded
HGPN exists because hardgainers have a different problem than "I need motivation". Many people don't fail because they lack willpower, but because they lack structure, predictability, and because almost no product takes hardgainer reality seriously: high TDEE, little buffer, often poor tolerance, and zero desire for twelve shaker rituals per day.
That's why we build two things at the same time: a system (diagnosis → plan → execution) and products that fit the target group. Supplements are amplifiers, not the foundation. But for hardgainers they can be a real lever when chosen correctly and applied consistently.
The story in 4 phases – from starting point to system
-
1999 · Start
Starting point in the gym
Skinny, weak, no plan. My starting point in the gym was 1999. I quickly realized: "wanting more" isn't enough. You need structure. The most important skill wasn't strength, but showing up again and making the whole thing measurable.

2002 · Reality
Under 50 kg – excuse or discipline
The hard truth: I was the "too skinny" guy. Under 50 kg wasn't aesthetic, it was a real problem state. From that point, training became a protocol: compound lifts, progression, calories planned, recovery fixed.

HGPN · Founded
From protocol to brand
HGPN is the translation of this path into a system for others: diagnosis → plan → execution. And then products that respect hardgainer reality. Goal: consistent gains, without self-deception.

Guardrails that actually matter for hardgainers
This is the part nobody wants to hear, but everybody needs.
And yes: supplements. Not as a replacement, but as an amplifier. For hardgainers the key is that products are practical: well-tolerated, clearly dosed, no BS. Creatine, protein, caffeine – evidence-based. That's exactly what HGPN targets.

Common Questions About the Founder Story and HGPN
What exactly is Hardgainer Performance Nutrition®?
HGPN is an Austrian brand (GmbH) developing supplements specifically for hardgainers. On top of that, we deliver evidence-based content, free tools, and digital products – all built around the problem of "not enough mass despite training."
What sets HGPN apart from other supplement brands?
Focus over breadth. Our products are formulated specifically for hardgainers – not for the general population. That means: formulas that account for high TDEE, low appetite, and fast satiation. EU/AT-compliant manufacturing, transparent labeling, no proprietary blends.
Are you selling supplements yet?
Not yet. We're in development and testing. The first products go live only when quality and real-world usability check out. Until then: content, tools, and digital products to help you build progress.
What quality standards do you follow?
EU/AT-compliant manufacturing, clear dosages, raw material documentation, and no marketing claims. Focus on efficacy and tolerability – especially for hardgainers, who often react sensitively to sweetness profiles and high volumes.
Do I need supplements to gain weight as a hardgainer?
No. The foundation is lean surplus, training, and sleep. Supplements like creatine and protein are amplifiers – they don't replace the basics but can accelerate progress.
Where should I start?
Calculate your TDEE with the Calorie Calculator, then read the Hardgainer Guide. Or take the Hardgainer Test if you're not sure yet.
How do I find out about drops and releases?
First via email through the Hardgainer Mission Briefing™, then on Instagram. Communication stays short, clear, and relevant – no spam.
Who's behind HGPN?
Christian, founder and managing director. A hardgainer himself since 1999. The full story with photos and timeline is in the About Me Deep Dive.
